On this web site, a wide-ranging group of Italian and foreign scholars, professionals, and researchers have posted a petition to Ms. Letizia Moratti, the current Italian Minister of Education and Research. The petition defends Humanities Computing programs in Italian universities, and underlines the importance of Humanities Computing as a discipline, the centrality of its pioneering research, and its established and internationally consolidated tradition. The petition's signatories proclaim the absolute necessity of preserving and fostering these important programs.

The petition arises in response to a series of articles reporting that the Italian Minister of Education would have included Humanities Computing within a category of "useless" teachings, soon to be abolished.

In addition to the petition's text, it is possible to access an updated list of the petition's signatories, a number of documents concerning HC in Italy, and some links to Humanities Computing Internet resources.
